There is NO gold in a 1975 vintage TV set. Gold-plated connectors and fingers on PC boards only started showing up in the late 1990s, because the lower contact resistance of gold-plating (versus nickel) only became important with miniaturization. The 1975 TV set does have gobs of lead, though, so it has to be disposed of (as is true with ALL electronics) as toxic waste...take it to a proper reclaim center.
Any licensed dump will not allow it simply to be dumped...they'll have a section set aside for electronic items, and it will be processed properly.
